Bake Off set for Saturday From staff reports The Weekly Post Published November 20, 2009 Sample desserts from some of the area's best cooks this Saturday at the third annual Sand Mountain Dessert Bake Off. Sponsored by the Rainsville Chamber of Commerce, the bake off will be held at the Tom Bevill. Judging will begin at 4 p.m. There is no entry fee or admission charge. For any bakers out there who have not already registered for the contest, there is still time to do so. Registration forms may be turned in on the day of the contest when the dessert is brought in to be judged. Prizes will be awarded in all three categories – cakes, pies and other desserts. The doors will open at 1 p.m., and the kitchen will be available at that time. Winners will be announced between 5 and 6 p.m. A live auction will begin at 6 p.m., but a silent auction will be going on during the bake sale with a bidding deadline of 5:30. Starting at 5, for $5 per person, there will be a supper of chili, soup, dessert and a drink available.
