Six Sand Mountain prep basketball teams began the 2009-10 season ranked in the top ten.
In girls Class 2A, North Sand Mountain comes in at No.4 while Section gets in at No.6.
NSM fell to Section last year in the area tourney 53-45, ending its season with a 19-10 record.
Section made it all the way to the finals of the regional tournament, where they dropped a heart-breaker to Ider 53-52 and finished the season 24-7. Section finished the regular season last year ranked No.3 in Class 3A.
On the boy’s side, Crossville begins the season ranked No.3 in Class 3A and Pisgah starts out ranked No.6, also in 3A.
In 2A, Section is ranked No.3 and Fyffe is ranked No.7.
Crossville fell to Piedmont last year 53-50 and finished 24-9. Pisgah finished 19-10 after losing to Leeds 101-42.
Fyffe lost to Sand Rock in the Class 2A regional’s 64-62 and ended their season 22-7.
Section fell to North Sand Mountain 49-47 in the area tournament and closed with a 13-10 record.
